Arrived in Cairns very tired as flew through the night and missed a few hours due to the time difference so very disorientated! Oz was just how I though it would be. Just a more sparse England really with lots of trucks and wide roads! Got to Cairns town and headed for the famous backpacker place called Gilligans. Arrived at 7am after no sleep and desperate for a bed but couldnt check in til 2 eek! The place looked cool though it was a really new modern hostel with big wide screen tvs and a bar, launderette, cafe, club the lot really. Had some breakfast and took a walk to the shopping precinct. Everything was just like england and the same prices too really! When we managed to check in we saw our room was amazing it was a dorm for 12 pound a night bit expensive but hey it was my birthday soon. We had an ensuite and balcony and the kitchen on our level was spot less too. Nothing like we were used to in Thailand. I think I had got used to the dingy huts and holes in the floor for a toilet and cobwebbs etc. Anyway got a few hours kip and then met our roomies who were very nice. The next day we had a chilled day too to get over the jet lag. Went to the Cinema and did lots of walking round the town. Got an early night to prepare ourselves for the following days adventures. Jumping out of an aeroplane!!
