This morning we headed 40km down the railway system to Khao Sam Roi Yot, it took around 2hrs which included 1 train and 1 local bus called a songwthae followed by more accomodation hunting. Most hotels were 1000baht plus a night which was over our budget for 1 day. We continued hunting until we found a small bungalow resort with what seemed like they had no staff. We soon came across a guy who said it was 500 baht a night so we happily snapped up the deal.
Once we were settled in, we got into our swimies and headed a brisk 50m walk onto a deserted 2 mile long beach. The water was clear, blue and warm, the sand was golden with thousands of hermit crabs fighting for shells. Brad set up his hammock in the palm trees and Ross went for a casual swim.
Later on that night we came across the only internet cafe in the area and sat there most of the night as there was nothing else to do, it was that quiet.
The next day Brad woke up feeling the worse he has done all trip, but he troopered on through. We hired kayaks out for a few hours and went to small island which was about a mile and a half away, when we arrived we were greeted suprisingly by more fat, german tourists and a pride of monkeys. We expected an empty golden beach with crystal clear water, so as you can imagine we weren't best pleased. After taking a few photos of the monkeys (not the Germans) we jumped back into our kayak and paddled along the island looking for climbing spots for Ross. Unfortunatly the water was far to shallow and Ross decided not to risk it. So we ended up paddling back to shore and gave our trustworthy vessel back.
Soon after lunch we hired out a motorbike each and cruised along the seafront and came across 3 or 4 deserted beaches but as we forgot our swimming stuff we couldn't take advantage of them. We also found a small fishing harbour and biked to the end of the pier and took some more photos. On our way back we spotted a statue of a Lady Buddha and stopped to take photos as we did so a lot of passing cars were beeping there horns so we moved on quickly before we got beaten.
We soon returned the bikes and spent another a few hours on the internet, we had also booked our taxi for 9.30am so hit the sack soon after
P.S. Sorry we are taking so long to update photos, internet connection is poor over here and takes an age just for 1 picture to load
