Mount Morgan was founded as a gold mining town in 1882, and over time the Mt Morgan Mine has produced gold, silver and copper. It is situated 40 km south-west of Rockhampton. The mine closed in 1981 and is now a tourist attraction. Ross's brother and his wife live there which was our reason for visiting the town. We went for dinner on Saturday night to an historic pub "The Leichardt" We had a lovely meal. I think we may have been the only guests at that time. Hopefully the publican had more guests arrive after we left. We left Mt Morgan on Sunday and decided that our time on the road must come to end and that we should reluctantly head for home.
