We are now in Charters Towers, Qld, which has some beautiful old buildings. Climate here is usually quite warm, average of 27c. On Wednesday when we arrrived temp was 25c, just nice. Yesterday was overcast and word was that rain was on the way so I got the washing done, hung out and dried and half an hour later the drizzle began and then as dafrkness fell about 6.30pm the rain began and didn't stop till about 10 this morning. 28mm in total which is a record for July, as they tell us it rarely rains in July and their average is 0 -20. Lucky Ross put the extra awning rafters on so that the rain would run off. Lots of wet ground and mud around today and quite cool. Electric blankets on tonight. However we have a great site with plenty of room. so we plan to book for another few nights, as it is Qld school holdidays, which finish Friday next week so the touristy spots we plan to visit will be pretty busy right now. Lets hope the rain stays away for the rest of the trip.
