After a relaxing week in Goa, we flew into the hustle and bustle of Delhi. It couldn't be more different to the chilled south, it seems like everyone is trying to scam you or rip you off. People chase you down the street trying to sell you fake sunglasses and watches, and even the police are trying to take sneaky photos of us!
However we only went for one reason and that was the F1. We arranged a car to take us. He waited around in the car park all day and then took us home in the evening. We felt a little bad but it's what they do. He brought food an had a cardboard mat to sleep on while he waited.
The driving in Delhi is the craziest we have seen. There are lanes on the motorways but the drivers seem to create extra lanes by straddling two. Despite the signs on the motorway saying overtake, they all seem to undertake, it's a real free for all! Roundabouts are pretty crazy too. You don't give way like we do. Everyone pulls out and the cars coming round have to stop, you then cut across three lanes to take the first exit.
The F1 was amazing and very loud. Friday we watched the practice. We were sitting in the picnic area on a grass bank overlooking the north end of the track. Although its called the picnic area you are not allowed to take any food or drink in, although we did sneak some in. They seem to have signs with rules on about what you can't do but no one seems to follow them and no one enforces them....it's a little confusing!
On Saturday we watched the qualifying, and Sunday we had the big race. It was so exciting and excellent to watch, we are definitely going to try and go to more in the future.
