After a good sleep in the fresh country air, we decided to take a walk in the nearby woods in our PJ's and Ros's wellys (Pics attached to show the surreal landscape!). Imagine doing that every morning!
TK Max was our first stop (AGAIN!) before heading to the countryside and were recognised by the staff after we returned one item and bought several more. After the first visit, Pol was addicted even after she said she wasn't interested in shopping on this trip.
Dawnie showed us through the Shropshire Hills and took us on a tour of where she grew up and to the Stiperstones (countryside 600m above sea level). We picked our first Wimberry (which resembled blueberries although tasted different and are only found in a couple of areas in Britain). We had a 'baaring' experience where we got chased by sheep as we bleeted our hearts out from the car as Dawnie drove.
Down the Shropshire Hills we landed in Church Stretton - a beautiful, cozy little villiage.
Next stop; Cardington - The Royal Oak for lunch - one of the oldest pubs in Britain. Inside it didn't look to have changed much from the old days of service. The village only consisted of a pub, church and a handful of houses.
Our day did not stop here!
It was time to head back to London. The weather had turned from sunny to what resembled the middle of winter in Perth. We were not prepared...Summer mesh motorcycle jackets, no wet gear and jeans. We had a 3 hour ride ahead of us.
We left at 3pm from Shrewsbury and hit bumper to bumper traffic on the M6 where Rose tested her lane-splitting abilities. It was seriously cold and wet. We were not happy. Every time we moved positions on the seat, we felt the water squelching through our jeans and shoes. Funny enough, started to think we were the only bike on the road. Crazy. No?
100 miles out of London after spending some time either lane splitting through heavy traffic or traveling at 90miles per hour where our jackets and wet clothes acted as air-conditioners, Rose finally said enough. As soon as we got off the bike and inside the services centre a lovely lady approached us as soon as she spotted Rose shaking on the richter scale of 7.
Poor Rose, she had pushed herself to her limits riding! We were both cold to the bone, completely wet though and shaking. Rose could barely hold a coffee. This lovely lady, Denise, came over and offered us clothes which she had in her car. Her and her partner, Andy, waited while we got changed and offered to buy us food, drink and even a lift back to London.
There are such kind people out there in the world.
Thank you so much for your help, we wouldn't have made it back to London that night without meeting you!
Ready to ride home from Warwickshire services. Pol's turn to ride. Blue skies and warm weather on the way to London - we had a chance to properly dry off.
We walked through the front door - Ros's dad couldn't believe the ordeal we went through as it had been sunny and warm in London!!
He took us to Princess Gardens restaurant for a beautiful Asian dinner.
