Preparing for the road ahead – destination: Monselice via Maranello – Ferrari town! This dude has no chance of finding a park! We encountered a couple of scoot riders looking for available spaces – the streets were full of parked scooters! Ros doesn’t look happy at this point – we were due to be out of the main city of Florence in 15 mins – however Pol and the Navigator had a slight scuffle and Pol sent Ros on a scenic half hour route through Florence city centre. Ros was polite throughout the affair while Pol and the GPS had words. Finally – toll road. 130km/h. Overtaking trucks – especially when there are crosswinds – take extra caution to ensure one stays in the lane while fighting differing directional winds. Traffic Jam!!!...and we couldn’t filter through the traffic due to our wide panniers!!!! This added 20mins to our journey toward Maranello. …Finally we reached a Truck broken down and police directing traffic to move forward. As I was taking the photo the police lady shouted something at Pol… traffic jam over. Blue skies ahead… Lovely 26degrees and sunny… Then…a quarter of an hour later… 20degrees and… Starting to rain!!!! Ros wasn't impressed as she had shorts on. With an hour to go before reaching Maranello. Rain is beginning to get heavier… Maranello (the GPS took us the long way around!!): Ferraris are made in this little town! All the shops and bars have Ferrari flags etc in them. They're very proud! You can hear Ferarris cruising around town. Ros managed to keep her ear out for one the whole of lunch at this restaurant! We only heard one! The main Ferrari street! Ferrari Bus at the Ferrari Museum! You can test drive a Ferarri around a special track just around the corner! This is the track entrance – or so we think – it is fairly closed off with high fences so you cant see what’s going around the track - just hear the loud engines! Back on the road to Monselice: (The rain has ended) Quick fuel stop – Ros carrying our bottles of water! Monselice! Front of Hotel – Blue Dream…we found this on bookings.com. Great price too! Check out Ros’s sock tan on her chop! Quick rest before heading out into town – These roads are a little tricky to navigate with 2 wheels. The cobbles in between are very bumpy to ride on as we found!! We found a supermarket and bought picnic type foods and found a park to sit in – near a castle! On our way back to the hotel room: This is the wine we had at our picnic – because we didn’t end up taking the Swiss army knife to open corked bottles of wine….and we couldn’t find a screw top bottle of wine so we thought that the 1.15Euro 1L bottle would be fine…it was like vinegar!
