Today we headed to a small country town in the region of Umbria, Italy. This place has a strong religious history and is known for its many churches and amazing panoramic views. On our way out of Pompei – we found scoot riders constantly on their phones – either texting or talking and when the Italians talk – they move their hands about – this is what this scoot rider was doing; riding with one hand while the other explains to the person on the phone what he is talking about!!!!!! Pol managed to capture him with his hand on his hip – disconcerted? Pompei – Mount Vesuvius A warm 35 degrees at 150km/h Fuel stop! Back on the road – We find Italian drivers to be road hogs at times where they sit in the middle of the 2 fast lanes. Eventually they move over and let people overtake them. We also had trucks pull out in front of us at the last minute to overtake other trucks. Note to self: be on guard…plus cars overtake us being half in our lane! Assisi: We got a great last minute deal on booking.com! After a little rest, we headed out into the main town to walk around before dinner: (Ros getting tired of Pol taking pics!!) Now – to a little rustic country house accommodation for dinner. We found this place on Tripadviser and we regretted not finding the acommodation here before booking into the Hotel – this place had such a warm family and rustic feel to it! – The restaurant and accommodation is on private property – we found bunnies! We’re here! We were greeted by a very charismatic man who has been on the property for 30 odd years! He was a great front of house and then gave instructions to his wife waitress about what to get and do, and she followed his commands! After we were seated we think he left to get some quiet over a glass of wine while his wife did the work... This is a unique restaurant where there is a set menu for everyone and dinner begins at an appointed time. Check out the amount of food we’re about to eat……!! 1st Dish… 2nd Dish… 3rd dish… After the 3rd dish we forgot to take pics of the other dishes…there were many - 9 courses in total!!! We were so full after. Every single dish was amazing! This little dog knows what it’s doing…she is the owners dog who comes out toward the end of the sitting. She has a charm about her. She knows how to get a pat and food… so sweet especially to the children! Desert – WE ARE SO FULL!! All that food and a litre of wine cost 30 euros each! It was amazing!
