We found places to dry our clothes! Quick pre-breakky snack before heading out into the city for a proper breakky… With the fruit we picked up from Bosnia! Coffee and tea first…we sat down before asking if there was breakky avail so we stayed and had one drink each …now to somewhere that serves food… We had two big brekkies and hot drinks for so cheap. It was such a beautiful little café, really funky outdoor seating with an overhanging fig tree. Check out the umbrellas on the street – we’re heading to a bank museum to have a quick look before heading to Hungary Pol got her mug printed on a pretend bank note. Back to the hotel to finish packing and head out to Hungary.. On the way out of Belgrade: Things were going well and nice… …we had 4 hours of riding ahead of us… …until we got to this point at about the 2.5 hour to go mark…. It was the border crossing from Serbia into Hungary (or so we thought – more on this later)…and the line wasn’t moving anytime soon… …The sun was hot…and we didn’t have any water. Still, our spirits were high. The queue behind us was getting longer… …the queue in front still was not moving very quick.. These guys turned their engines off and pushed… ..getting closer…Ros is not happy...overheated, dehydrated and headache starting to form. The temp would be in the high 30’s right about now… WE’re through! – and think we’re good to keep going on the motorway at 150km/h to cool down…until…. …We are in another queue – this time it’s the one to enter Hungary!!!!!!!! …Ros is now REALLY not happy!! Pol pushes the bike and Ros – engine off and in neutral This is the closest we dared to photograph the crossing – the guards randomly checked inside car boots…we were asked whether we were carrying any cigarettes before we crossed into Hungary…wonder what things people could smuggle into their country!? ..back on the highway – another 180k’s to go before the next turn off…time to fuel up… Ros – giving the bike a quick clean! …back on the motorway!! On the way into Budapest: Check out the bugs! Traffic and tram lines!!!! 39 degree heat...peak hour traffic...we had to do something!! ...push bike lane!! interval period - rest and figuring out what to do next... Ros had booked a restaurant surprise for Pols birthday.... So she got dressed up in her one and only dress! Easy wardrobe decisions... so we got on the metro...to the restaurant! There was a live classical trio playing, and they played waltzing matilda for Pol. She was impressed. The walk back... Pol slightly intoxicated... we tried a traditional Hungarian spirit after dinner. Knocked our socks off! Hungary's version of grappa.
