We got up in morning and had toast, preserve and pain au chocolat for brekky! Then we headed off for the day Last night Ros booked the next day’s accommodation and location without telling Pol… Pol wondered where we would end up! Some pics along the way: Pol was starting to get suspicious! She noticed horses! Surprise! We stayed in a Gypsy Caravan in the French town of Saintes Maries de la Mer at Hotel Mas De La Fouque. Rose got the idea from a French couple who were working at Jesters Flats horse riding in Margaret River. It is famous for its white horses – the Camargue Horses which are an ancient breed indigenous to this area. Here’s Marius – the resident Macaw - he is free to roam around the hotel! There are also turtles in the surrounding marshland, swans and flamingos! Lunch at the hotel And then… A private 2 hour horse ride: The horse ride was amazing, we went through marshes, along the beach, through water. It was beautiful. And…. We galloped!! Both of us had learnt to trot when we were down at Margaret River, and today we both did our first gallop. No cantering with the Camargue horses apparently! Also the ride style is slightly different. You hold the reins with only one hand, so that the other hand was always ready to hunt the Camargue bulls. Knackered after the day, we stopped at the supermarket – got some food for a picnic dinner, then headed back to the hotel for a relaxing drink by the pool. Surrounding the pool area were lakes/marsh like water where turtles lived - the hotel even had bread out specifically for guests to feed the turtles with. Pol first... while Ros looked on... The pool looked too tempting while we had our drinks and finished some blogging. So... We jumped in. Pol first then Ros. Check out the underwater snaps! Although our eyes stung from the chlorine! Then we spotted flamingos flying in a group! Business class? Next, important! Dinner! We prepared a picnic style dinner for out the front of our gypsy room. It was next to a stagnant pond so Ros's idea of alfresco dining wasn't fab. Pol got eaten yet again by mozzies! Then to bed... So nice with air con!!!
