Day 100 Nha Trang – Hoi An
Having stopped for at least six times on our twelve hour overnight journey, we finally arrived in Hoi An. Our $10 a night guesthouse had a swimming pool, but we decided to have breakfast and a sleep first. Strolling into town we stopped off at our first tailors. Em managed to narrow down her twelve choices to one dress, which I feared would look like a toga. There are loads of tailors, French colonial architecture, markets and cafes everywhere. Em ordered one more dress and then we stopped for lunch in a really nice little café. We carried on our exploring to the central market, where I was sized for a couple of casual shirts and one suit shirt. Discovering some Bia hoi for 4,000 VND (12p), we sat down for a glass or 10. Hoi An is really peaceful and set along a beautiful river.
Back at the guesthouse, we sat watching tv until I got hungry and we headed out again. We ate a restaurant across the river and walked around the old town before heading back with a bottle of Dalat red wine, which wasn’t all that.
Day 101
We got up to get Emma’s dress, which was suppose to have been ready the night before, luckily Emma really liked it and it didn’t turn out to be a toga. We then walked to the other tailor, for the next dress but unfortunately turned out to bee slightly too big but still nice according to Em!!! We then walked to my tailor’s and having sat there for half an hour, they still weren’t ready. Breakfast beckoned as did the swimming pool. After spending two hours around our pool, which was nice but very hot, we headed off for a small lunch in a café where I wanted to learn how to cook Pho Bo. However, Pho Bo is too time consuming to teach how to make, so I had to make do with just eating it. After a few drinks, I dared Emma that she couldn’t go back to the guesthouse and get the laptop in under 30 minutes. Gullible, sweet, competitive Emma, did so but only in 32 minutes - not bad, not bad! I managed to finally pick up my shirts and we stayed for a few more drinks in our cheap bia hoi café and then we went down the river for dinner, which was really good.
