ONE MINUTE TO GO:
I have not updated my blog for several days and there was a good reason; and it's not because I'm a slacker. The reality is that we have been at a life transforming conference with a miracle occurring for us to be able to gain access to this conference. It all began with…
the couple of weeks leading up to the conference, the title being 'Touching the Hem of His Garment'.
When we arrived in the US we found out about this conference but when we investigated we found that it was fully booked out. It was a conference having a total of 100 persons and it had been booked for several weeks designed for pastors and leaders predominantly. The purpose of the conference was to teach on and activate healing ministry.
About two weeks ago we e-mailed the conference organiser and she indicated to us that there was no availability and that there was a long waiting list should anyone elect to cancel out from the conference. So it would seem that it was not possible to attend.
About a week ago we just 'happened' to cross paths with the leader and keynote speaker of the conference, Chris Gore. During our conversation we indicated that we would love to have been able to go to the conference but it was booked out. Chris said that they may well be some dropouts and if we e-mailed him he would keep us informed.
We then e-mailed Chris and explained our desire to go and asked if there's any possibility of attending. He responded by e-mail that there was simply no opportunity and he apologised.
We were quite disappointed but felt in our hearts that we were meant to go and therefore we continued to believe God. We send another e-mail to Chris and we indicated that we would be willing to be volunteers and I would even be willing to be a 'guinea pig' for healing prayer due to my stroke condition. Chris eventually responded and said that he was unable to do anything for us.
We continued praying about the matter and began declaring the fact that we believed the Lord wanted us to go, and therefore He would make a way.
Tuesday 31st came around being the commencement for the conference. Carole and I decided that we would go to the conference and trust that someone may not show up and then we would get be able to gain entry. The conference was due to start at 10 AM and we arrived at 9:15. We explained our circumstance to the girl processing the applications and then we sat and waited. Around 930 she came back and said that unfortunately it was impossible that even if some attendants failed to show up then she would not be able to allow us in because there were so many that had applied before us that it would not be right to allow us in ahead of them and that these were her instructions from her boss. She was lovely and very apologetic but also quite emphatic. We asked if we could wait for 15 minutes and see what happened. She was very apologetic and said we could wait but there was no hope!.
As we were waiting we spoke to a number of people that passed by who we had made a friendship with over the preceding weeks. One of them was a great bloke called Chris Kildosher – one of the ministry leaders there. We continued to wait and Carole and I decided that we would wait until 10 AM, the time when the meeting began officially. About 9:50 AM I said to Carole that it looks like we're not gonna be able to get in so we should get going and she said 'let's just wait until 10 AM and then take off'. As we were sitting there we looked at various scriptures that were talking about the fact that faith can move mountains etc etc.
At 9:59 Chris Gore and the attendant behind the reception desk came out to see us and simply said that they have been able to manage some arrangements and that we can go to the conference but that we will not be able to have the catered lunch on two days nor would we be able to go to the intercessory session on Thursday. With great joy and appreciation we found ourselves in the conference.
I should also note that during the conference we were provided with the catered lunches on those two days and we were also permitted to attend the intercessory session on Thursday.
This was a miracle but perhaps one of the key lessons that I learnt from this event was that I, (We) need to learn to trust God even up until the 11th hour or it in our case, the last minute.
So that, as I continue to wait and contend for my healing, I am given great encouragement by the fact that, even though it's not here yet, I am waiting with expectation even if it does not come until the last minute. I will continue to the believe, trust, declare, have confidence in the goodness of our God.
So perhaps I can leave you with one last thought. Consider what would've happened to us if we had left at 9:58AM? Now let's apply this to our own lives and the things that we are believing and contending for.
So perhaps that's enough for this blog. On the next blog I will go through some of the wonderful teaching and blessings that came out of the conference. I trust that you are doing well and continuing to press into Him.
Love Rob and Carole
