Day 1 over and we're sat watching the sun set enjoying a chilled can of XXXX.
Today started with a flurry of packing and sorting with a sore head, and I was glad to be on our way and saying goodbye to our temporary digs on Kangaroo Point. Heading south the drive past the Gold Coast is not a favorite as the traffic is bad and the scenery is urban all the way. Beyond Tweed Heads it really opened up, with some great views of Mt Warning, and occasional glimpses of the sea.
Crossing into New South Wales we lost an hour, no idea where it went, perhaps we'll find it on the way back. Lunchtime we reached Ballina as per my last post.
Leaving Ballina we passed the Big Prawn and headed back onto the Pacific Highway. By four pm we were at our destination for today, Brooms Head. A stroll over the headland and along the beach for a paddle was followed by a quick plunge in the sea to cool off.
Not a bad start!
