Today was the day of Zion National Park. This place is really similar to Yosemite except it has had too many iron tablets. The rocks all have a tinge of red instead of the white of Yosemite. So much beauty!!!
First walk was the emerald pools. Apparently they are a beautiful blue due to an algae some times of the year. But unfortunately that wasn't today. We did see some cool frogs and a elk right by the track.
The second walk was to the Weeping rock. This is water trickling down it. The water has been proven to be 1200 years old. Had lunch under a tree by then river (just like home) then we went on our final walk.
The river walk was in a canyon that has been known to have flash floods. We walked about 1 km up the river. Quite a cool experience. Felt like we were back on one of our childhood missions. Awesome walk. The walls were straight up, absolutely no way out. Lovely to be in the water though as it was an incredibly hot day.
In the park we saw rock climbers and abseilers at work. Some of them even spend the night camping on the ledge. Crazy! Drove out along the red road, as the use the red rocks for the asphalt. And through the 1.1 mile long tunnel that took three years to make(Erin loved it) to Page (Where's Wally).
