After using the convenience of Walmart Bridgette and I went to an all you can eat Pizza Hut. Not as good as home. No chips and all the pizza were practically just cheese. Got on the road heading south. Left Wyoming and entered Utah. The scenery has changed drastically. It has gone from the green trees of Teton to hostile barron dry red land with only small shrubs growing. Lots of signs talking about fossils and the dinosaurs the use to live in the area. Way different atmosphere. It is a dessert out here, not much between the towns. There keeps being open ranges that don't even have fences to keep the cattle off the road. We have also seen many signs with bullet holes in them, random fences that are only 50m long and don't link up (wood structures that are about 5 m high), lots of oil wells and heaps more American flags. Along the way we have seen some incredible fork lightening and storms.
Drove to Arches National Park. So different to Yosemite and Yellowstone. The land is a beautiful mix of reds in colour but also has the occasional green through it. Decided it will all look better in the morning so carried onto our accomadation which was Lazy Lizard Hostel in Moab. Time for real accomadation as we need showers and washing again. Not that clean of a place but there are others around and it feels safe.
Last chance of a shower for a while. Filled up on nice water then entered Arches National Park. Our first bit of real heat. And there are people everywhere. Beautiful scenery. Not too many plants, but lots of lizards and amazingly there are still flowers on some shrubs. The arches are formed over thousands of years from erosion. It's amazing to see what nature can do. Went pratically across the road to Canyonland National Park. Once again incredible. We were all exhausted from the heat and not enough water. Off down to Cedar city to meet wally again. Man I am happy there are a lot of Walmarts around for us to stay in.
