What a place. Memorable for many reasons. Place I really enjoyed but have no desire to return too. It was a place of my tooth, gambling, food, interesting people and shows, accomadation we could have only dreamed of and big parties!
Upon making it to Las Vegas we discovered we were to stay at the Stratosphere, a really flash casino. It had its own pool, gym, shops, theme park style rides and of course casino. What a way to spend our free time in Vegas. It was great to start our days off with a bit of relaxation by the pool and work off some of the alcohol in the gym.
On the first morning when we got to Vegas I went to Abby Dental. Here I wanted to get what I thought was a filling sorted. Left with USD $400 thinking it would be more than enough. After one xray a dentist walked in and said I had 2 options, root canal or extraction. I was taken to another room where they told me it would cost USD 1500. I literally cried, I didn't want a root canal or all my spending money to be spent on it. But I really had no choice. Two dentist did a root canal and then fitted a temporary crown ( a permanent one was put on 3 days later). The tooth had a disgusting smelling abcess so I was given antibiotics as well. Disappointing as only NZ $650 NZD is covered by insurance. Of course we went shopping after to make me feel better.
The food in Las Vegas is so cheap. We
went to Circus Circus for an all you can eat buffet. So much variety and so much food. Loved it! Until I became so full, I felt ill. In downtown Vegas we found the Heart Attack Grill. Such a funny place. If you are over 350 pounds you get to eat free. And there are no options to have diet coke or small fries etc everything to be large and full fat. We also found MnM World. It was a childs overpriced heaven. Absolutely amazing to stand by the wall with all the different types of flavors. I wish I could have had them all!
Decided to experience a show in town. Went to the Luxor Hotel for the best magic show of the century. Criss Angel was meant to be amazing but he didnt really impress good. He wasnt on stage for long. He also showed a lot of videos. And the tricks he did were all pretty similar. We were a bit disappointed with how much it cost for such a short show. We could have seen it all on YouTube. Downtown Vegas provided us more entertainment. So many lights, street performers and just out there people. The street performers were magnificent. Rappers, live bands, dancers, artists, people who played music on buckets and illusionists. So much variety and such a great vibe.
On our last night we thought we better do a proper bar crawl. I went a brought a burrito for dinner, Erin and Bridgette weren't keen though. Started the bar crawl with Beer pong which Bridgette and Erin dominated. Carried on drinking, got bit lost but managed to complete the crawl. Along the way made friends with Becca and Abby Vernon from England. All very drunk. Got over the last club. It had a pool, Abby and I decided to jump in fully clothed. So much fun. Bouncers didn't think so, got kicked out. Went to another bar, completely soaked. Not much fun. Ended the night with some over priced noodles that tasted amazing and an over priced taxi back to the hotel.
Very very hard to get out of bed. Bridgette looked like death. We woke at 10 and had 1 hour to check out. After showers, spews and many toilet stops we made it to the desk. Grabbed the van from the valet. Deciding who could drive wasn't to hard. Bridgette was hardly walking and Erin had glazed eyes. The job was mine even though if I got pulled up, I was sure I would be over. I think the burrito save me a tad, Bridgette and Erin didnt even eat dinner. Freaking out about driving in the big city while hung. Went back to Abby Dental to have my crown cleaned up. Then found a subway. Here Erin and I ate, Bridgette spewed and we all tried to sober up before driving. After an hour we drove to the Hoover Dam. What a magnificent man made object. Way to hot to be outside for long though. Back on the road. Aimed for Barstow for our last Walmart. Brought 3 gallons of chocolate milk and dorritos. Proceeded to scoff it down in the carpark. First thing Bridgette has had all day!!!!
