My transfer picked me up at 1am, went to La Paz airport were I caught a flight to Lima. At the airport I realised I didn't have the address of our first hotel, rookie move. Had to try viber bridgette, and thank god her and Erin were still in Auckland airport. Flew with LAN Chile to Lima. Becuase my bags couldn't be checked right through I had to cross the boarder into Peru and do the whole check in again. 8 hours waiting in Lima is a bloody long time. Flew with Copa Airlines to Panama City (300 is islands around Panama would be great to visit). Then flew again with Copa Airlines to LAX. Not to bad of a day flying. All up it took me 24 hours of travel. Bridgette and Erin were outside to meet me (with Ed, bridgette basketball mates uncle). Man it was great to see them, I was so excited. Ed was great and dropped us to Motel 6. I discovered that we were staying in and less favorable area of town and Ed was tempted to make us move.
The next morning Ed picked us up and took us to a place to hire a car. We originally were going to use the public transport system but it is a lot harder than we first thought. Took a while to get a place that still had a little car available. But eventually we got one sorted, and Bridgette was all ready to freak out and drive in LA. Erin is the map reader and I am the lane changer checker. Made our way to Hollywood Bolavard. Ate lunch at a cool cafe on the corner. Before going in a open topped car for a 5 our of Hollywood and Beverley Hills. Seen many famous houses such a George Clooney, the Playboy Mansion, Paris Hilton, Kanye Wests Bachelor pad, Miley Cyrus and even Charlie Sheen. A bit of a weird tour. The lady was more interested in telling us about the onetime she was a extra. Everyone here wants some fame and apparently they are all gay and in arranged marriages. Had a drink at Hooters. Man I feel sorry for the girls. They must get some really gross guys. Purchased tickets and went to the Ripleys Believe it not museum , the wax house and the Guinness Book of Records museum. Cool museums. The wax place was a little unrealistic but still worth it. Seen the Chinese theatre with the hand and foot prints outside it. Dinner a a sports bar where we watched a basketball playoff game of the LA Clippers. Headed back 5 the car where we discovered that the guy paid $10 for all day parking on a Sunday was a fraud. ....... and Erin had accidentally left the window of our rented car for the whole day. We are SO lucky the car is still even, man that could have been bad!!! Drove upto the Griffith Park Observatory for a view of the city then pack to the motel for a well earned sleep.
The following morning we checked out of our creepy hotel and headed down the coast to the outlet store called Citadel.Massive complex with heaps of shops. Still we didn't find too much as the sizing were a bit out. After some sushi we decided to head out to Venice Beach. Walked along the board walk between Venice Beach and Santa Monica Beach. Such an interesting experience. Venice muscles beach had a music video being made, homeless people eating out of rubbish tins, people biking and roller blading, shops selling medicinal marjauna prescriptions, we even overheard a guy selling cocaine. Such a mix of wonderful colours and interesting people. Walked to Santa Monica pier. Returned to the car before returning to Santa Monica Pier. A really cute little place. Went on the ferris wheel with an amazing view over the sea and surrounding suburbs. A cool place to finish the day. Headed to Anaheim where we grabbed tacos before going to bed in preparation for the most exciting day tomorrow.
