Ferried from Seattle to Victoria to spend a few days with Mum's cousin Kieran Crowley and his family.Stayed with them in their house they had moved into 3 days earlier. Once again we were looked after very well.
Sue and Nicole helped us explore the area. We went for a walk up Mount Douglas and another massive hill by Swanighan Lake. Visited Swanighan Lake high school and surrounding area (where the Crowley kids went, freaken amazing school. It even has its own ice hockey rink). Swam in the lake, visited the world renowned Butchart Gardens and downtown Victoria with its amazing parliament buildings.
Had a feast of fresh fruit and vegetables that felt amazing after leaving America. Also were treated to amazing home cooked lasagne, salmon and chicken and some great chat sitting around enjoying shandys. We all really enjoyed honey and white bread sandwiches which we didn't even know we craved. Sue showed us the joy of Tim Houghtons, the cheap but amazing donut and drinks place. And Kieran returned in time from a sevens camp to ensure we all had the obligatory fire ball shots.
A great way to start our Canadian leg with familiar faces who made us feel very much at home.
