After being in Auckland for nearly 3 weeks we thought it was about time to venture into the city and go up the Sky Tower. Managed to get discounted backpacker prices and so decided to get the lift up to the observation deck and then pay the little   extra to go that bit higher up to the sky deck. After a 15,000 feet skydive, a bungy jump, a giant swing, climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge and numerous long haul flights, Ben was still nervous! Once we got out of the lift, his nerves went and I couldn?t get him up to the glass to take any pictures. I looked a right mess lying on the glass floor panel over 190metres above the ground and I think Ben was more nervous than me. The view from the tower was excellent, the weather was perfect and so we could see for miles. (not like the view from the Menara Tower in KL with all the smog from the fires in Java)We spotted Mount Eden and One Tree Hill and also Waiheke Island. We watched someone do the sky jump from the top. The jumper momentarily stops at the observation deck so that people can take pictures, and then carries on hurtling towards the ground. It looks like great fun. Ben surprised me when we got out of the lift on the sky deck and quickly stood on the glass long enough for me to take a photo. We both really enjoyed the Sky Tower and before we knew it, it was time to head back to Margaret?s. We?ve planned to go back into the city to finish off our sightseeing.
