Ben woke up with a stinking hangover and Ria was not impressed and not forgiving either!! We left Franz Josef at 07:30am way to early alot of driving to do today!! The weather had continued where it left off raining loads......our first stop was only down the road at Lake Matheson the reflextion lake. Obviously with the rain it didn't work but there was a amazing view of the Fox Glacier's. We carried on driving and passed through Haast Pass a beautiful drive and stopped off at Thunder Creek where the waterfall does a optical illusion when you stare at it for too long very cool.
The Weather changed unbelievably once we crossed the otherside of the mountains and the same was out with no clouds insight it was like a completely different day. We passed through Lake Hawea which was amazing and reflecting the mountains. The day was so nice we decided that it would be a good day to skydive as you do!!!.....we arrived in Lake Wanaka at 3pm and checked into a lovely hostel. 5 of us had booked up the skydive...Me & Ria, Elliott and Rose & Sarah we were getting picked up at 4.30pm!!
As soon as the bus turned up we started to get a few nerves. It took around 10mins to get to the airport (very small). Everything was really well organised and all the equipment very modern. We paid up and decided Ria was going to jump from 12,000FT, 45 seconds freefall and Ben was going to jump 15,000FT, 60 seconds freefall CRAZY!!! We jumped in the plane Elliott was with us and we started our way up strangely we were feeling a lot less nervous. The flight was awesome and very scenic we could see Lake Wanaka, Frnaz Josef Glacier, Mt Cook, Lake Hawea and more awesome. We got to 12,000FT and Ria's face turned a litttle bit white, the doors opened next thing you know she hanging out of the edge of the plane and then suddenly shes gone!! We rose to 15,000FT and Elliott jumped out first and then suddenly I was hanging out of the plane it was the most sereal feeling ever the wind was blowing hard and it was freezing....then we were falling 120MPH and dropping 180FT per second. When we had both landed it was an amazing relief we just couldn't believe we had done it, it was the best feeling ever just dropping from the sky over something so naturally beautiful we were both very proud of eachother!!
We picked up our DVD's which were awesome and we headed back to the Hotel on a big high we phoned home and just let the adrenelin flow. The next day we on our travels again.....Lake Wanaka was AWESOME!!!
