Hey everyone! Sorry we're not communicating much. It's so hard because we're constantly moving around and we've been averaging about 4 hours of sleep over the last few days. The Hangi Concert in Rotorua was awesome. They had a traditional Mauri village set up in a forest where we went around the different huts and were shown how they make clothing, their traditional dances and games. One of our Kiwi bus mates, Tom, was even nominated as chief of our tribe and they made him join a few of their performances (including the Hakka at the end of the night). Then we had an amazing feast that was all cooked in the ground. Everyone LOVED this evening. We then went back to the hostel bar and danced till the early hours. In the morning we went to the Te Puia geothermal reserve where they had geysers spouting water out, a hot spring which our guide actually boiled eggs in, and other cool stuff. We then headed on to Taupo where sadly Lowri's skydive was cancelled because it was too cloudy and windy, so we all grabbed some wine/beers and walked down to the lake where there are hot pools we all went in. And when I say hot... I mean HOT. The next day a bunch of us had booked to do the Tongariro crossing where you climb and see Mount Doom and various scenery from Lord of The Rings. I won't spend much time on that bit, as very few of us enjoyed that day because of the bad weather, and lack of views and HORRIFIC wind at the top (fell on my ass twice coming down - still living up to the nickname 'Bambi'). The next day we arrived in River Valley, where we stayed in a lodge in the middle of nowhere. It was beautiful. I did white water rafting which was so much fun, and super scary at times. Our guide Arnie only told us that 9 people had died on this river halfway down it. It's also the most dangerous river in New Zealand (just wanted to brag about that bit, as I survived it). Lowri didn't fancy the rafting so got to have a rest and relax at the lodge. In the evening, as it was Valentines Day, three of the girls slaved away cooking everyone (about 25 people) a lovely spag bol meal (not me - I had war wounds from the rafting as I'd cut my fingers) and we all ate together then spent the evening drinking and playing games. We then left River Valley in the morning and travelled on to Wellington for a night before getting the ferry over to Kaiteriteri in the South Island yesterday. On the way to the hostel, the bus dropped Lowri off for..... HER SKYDIVE!! She finally got to do it. She said it was amazing, and I'm so proud of her. The weather has been sooo nice here yesterday and today, so was perfect skydiving conditions. We had a chilled evening yesterday and an early night, and five of us have decided to have an extra day here for some recuperation. The hostel is right by the beach, so today me, Lowri, Tom, Ted and Sebastien got the Aqua Taxi over to the Abel Tasman national park which was like paradise. The boat stopped and showed us some seals playing in the water on the way, then we did a 1.5hr trek around the park before having a couple of hours on the beach to catch some rays. We've been loving life today. Anyway, we're off to play some mini golf :) lots of love to everyone and we're both sorry we're so out of touch. Speak soon xxx

Judy It's worth stalking your blog cos now I get to comment first! It was worth the wait. I can't believe how many amazing experiences you are having - and living to tell the tale (which is even better). At least Bambi is a cute nick name. You haven't changed much. I remember how you used to dance nimbly up sheer cliffs on our church walks - and then fall flat on your face on the flat grass at the top. Lots of love Mum xxx

Auntie Chris Hi Guys, Thanks for blog, your trip sounds so fandabbidoobidab ! that we just can't wait to see the piccies. Glad to hear from you. Unc. Dave was suffering withdrawal symptoms because 3 days without hearing from his favourite niece was taking its toll. I said you were both having too good a time to keep on blogging just to please the old fogies, but it was certainly worth the wait. We look forward to seeing the pictures of the Maori evening and the Hakka. The white water rafting sounds AWESOME. Well done you, Jess, and also well done Lowri re. the sky dive. Piccies again... Jo is coming over later to fix up our new printer. There's posh. SO GLAD you are having a ball.. Lots of Love Auntie Chris and Uncle Dave xx
Kevin Impressed that you managed (and survived!) the white water rafting, Jess. Sounds absolutely brilliant, but it helps that your writing is really excellent. The extra photos help too - always value those uploads! Your blog is a welcome distraction from the flu virus that we've picked up - spent nearly a week off work, most of it in bed.
Mum Jess & Lowri, your adoring public are eagerly awaiting your latest press release. It is long overdue. Mozzi bites are no excuse for neglecting your loyal followers.
reginafilange Sorry for the delay!!! 2 new ones for you to read! :) low xx
