We had such a good time in Bay of Islands (once the weather improved). On Sunday we got the ferry over to Russell Island which was quite a quiet, cute little town. Well Auckland has been amazing. We arrived at our Nomads hostel mid afternoon on Tuesday 11th, and went straight to meet our Huddersfield boys, Tom and Ted, who were in the same hostel. Spent our full day in Wellington walking around the city, stopped off at a bar by the waterfront for a sneaky cider in the sun, visited the Te Papa Museum and treated ourselves to a sharing platter at a nice restaurant, followed by a night out (I may have had a slight hangover for our 7.45 start)! Sadly, we havn't been having the weather we packed for! Lake Tekapo is one of three glacier lakes that when the sun shines, it's a beautiful duck egg blue colour. We couldn't really see the lake at its best, as the weather wasn't very good. We'd also booked to do star gazing in the night, but by the time we got up to the reserve the clouds had started moving over and covered most of the stars, so we actually only had time to see one star and a Milky Way through...

After our four nights in Queenstown we departed for the Deep South. We headed towards Dunedin, the university town. It's a shame we didn't have much time to look around this town, as it looked really cool. We did stop at the steepest road in the world though (but didn't attempt to climb it).
