Gaby The last 38 days sure have been amazing and I couldn’t of wished to experience my first backpacking trip with anyone else. The memories we’ve made have been amazing and are memories I will never forget. Thank you for being a great travel buddy. Lots of love xxx
re: Singapore, Singaporewendy aw Jess I've loved reading your travel stories. if you don't enjoy nursing I'm sure you could have a career in journalism! Loved the quotes at the end of this too. All the best with your job. Pips xx
re: Singapore, SingaporeDad Lovely post to finish on, Jess. You could almost put them altogether into a little book - great you even got (safely) close to a volcano. Looking forward to the Singaporean post...
re: Seminyak, IndonesiaGlyn Griffiths HI Jess, so craft classes and painting classes, as well as surfing classes pretty impressive! Sounds as if you're having an amazing time. Looking forward to catching up soon. Stay safe, lots of love G and Mxx
re: Seminyak, IndonesiaDad Sounds fascinating, Jess. Not so sure that broken glass in the shallows is the most enticing prospect, and relieved that all of that nurse training kicked in. Took me a while to work out what Babi Guling was, but I now know it is a kind of exotic hog-roast. No doubt vastly more appealing than the kind of dried-out, bland stuff they serve up with apple sauce and stuffing at events. BTW, Roath Park Lake has also been 'smelling funky', with blue-green algal infestations. Keep safe! Hope you enjoy the rest of your time.
re: Seminyak, IndonesiaMum Will your works of art fit into your rucksacks? They would be a lovely reminder of your holiday. Lots of love xxx
re: Seminyak, IndonesiaAndy Roberts Jess, sounds like you struck gold finding your driver and guide ‘Harry’. He’s taken you to some fascinating places. Enjoy your last few days! Sun has reappeared in St Melllons!
re: Seminyak, IndonesiaMum The photo is brilliant Jess. Can’t wait to see more. You are having so many amazing experiences. It’s lovely that you are able to spend time with local people and find out about their culture, not just associating with other tourists. It all sounds wonderful.
re: Seminyak, IndonesiaMum I add another vote for the taxi next time. Walking is good - in daylight! Spiders appear to be your Kryptonite - I am impressed to hear that Gaby rose to the occasion to try to protect you from the spider even while suffering severe food poisoning. Just a suggestion, but civet poo coffee may not be greeted with the same enthusiasm as the delicious Vietnamese coffee if you were thinking of presents. Lots of love xxx
re: Ubud, IndonesiaDad Great post, Jess. Sorry to hear that Gaby has had food-poisoning, but I guess there may be a kind of inevitability about that, at some point. I've heard of civet coffee before. Civets produce a particularly distinct pong at their rear end, so I am wondering what the coffee actually tasted like? Glad to hear you survived the encounter with unfriendly dogs. The taxi sounds like a good idea next time. Keep safe - sounds like you're having a brilliant time.
re: Ubud, IndonesiaJessica Thanks all! We’re both very pleased and proud of our results. We are currently on the most beautiful island of Nusa Lembongan where we celebrated with some drinks last night while plonked on beanbag chairs for several hours at our beachfront hotel bar which has the most beautiful sunsets. Hope you’re all well back home. Lots of love xxxx
re: Bukit Peninsula, IndonesiaGlyn Griffiths HI Jess CONGRATULATIONS! Brilliant news about your degree, we're thrilled for you - Super Nurse! Morriston hospital is lucky to have you! We've enjoyed reading about your travels, sounds as if you're making the most of every day. Glyn was especially pleased about the surfing, great to have another surfing dude in the family! Go girl!! Congratulations and best wishes to Gabby too. Enjoy the rest of your fabulous holiday. Love G and M xx
re: Bukit Peninsula, IndonesiaMum Well I think you have defined the perfect holiday with ‘got up when we wanted, ate when we’re hungry and did ‘things’ when we felt like it’. Can things get any better? Oh yes, doing all this knowing you have both just achieved excellent degrees. Enjoy the moment. You deserve it. Lots of love xxxxxxx
