Bucharest is often called a " little Paris" with wide streets, it's own Arch deTriumph, a love of beauty and a statue of Charles de Gaul replacing earlier ones of Lenis and Stalin.
We went from the Parliamentary Palace to see another beautiful sanctuary decorated with much gold and then to an outdoor museum where over 100 earlier homes in Romania have been transported and preserved. The one pictured is one of the earliest. It is dug into the earth so the straw roofs blend in with the surroundings.
It was all very interesting, but after the 200+ steps at the palace and tour of the houses, we were so very happy to be at the Hilton and find the little anniversary cake awaiting!
We feel very lucky to have been able to visit and understand better the times these people in Eastern Europe lived through, but are delighted to be going home!!
I have really enjoyed sharing this with you !
Love,
Hannah and Jerry
