From barcelona we travelled to Valencia where we spent the afternoon at the beach relaxing in the sun until 7.30 at night! The following day we viewed all the sights on a hop on hop off bus and visited Europes biggest Aquarium in the afternoon. Let's just say that Sydney Aquarium and Taronga Zoo we're 100 x better then this one - although saying that the Dolphin show was amazing even if it was in Spanish!!
We spent the night waiting in McDonald's for our overnight train to Granada that wasn't leaving until 1am. After getting minimal sleep we arrived at our hostel at 8am and were Lucky enough to check into our room shower and go to bed for a quick nap before a walking tour of the city. Later that night we had dinner and went to a flamenco show with two girls from Melbourne we met on the walking tour. On our last day in granada we went to a Arabic spa where you alternate between hot and cold pools of water whilst enjoying a massage in between. After our relaxation we headed up to the La Alhambra a castle that overlooks the whole of Granada with beautiful gardens and palace!
Our next stop was Seville And when we arrived it was a cool 43 degrees!! We braved the heat and ventured outside for a walk along the river and to the main square whilst waiting for Nick our friend from back home to arrive later that night. We hadn't seen nick for exactly 2 months so it was great spending the night catching up on travel stories over a few drinks!!
We spent the next day sightseeing on walking tours in seville and relaxed in the afternoons as you simply cannot walk around in 40+ heat all day long!
Next stop Lagos!! Amazing is one work to describe this town... A tiny old fishing village on the very tip of southern Portugal with gorgeous beaches although very cold as Portugals coast is on the Arctic Ocean! We met up
With some of nicks friends from back home who are living in London that night and went to a few local bars which are packed with Aussies!!
The next day we went sea kayaking visiting small caves and grottos which was great fun but very hard work relaxing at the beach that afternoon. After 3 nights of fun and relaxation we left Lagos and made our way to Lisbon the capital of Portugal?
In Lisbon we got a famous tram up the winding hills to another castle and cathedral and checked out a few viewpoints looking down onto the beautiful city! After spending a day exploring this beautiful city we spent the night relaxing and then went on a pub crawl around the Baro district where there are street party's even on a Tuesday night!! Feeling a little dusty the next morning we were up bright and early for an all day tour to the Sintra area, the most western point of mainland Europe and beautiful Cassius beach where we enjoyed the worlds best icecream!!
We are now waiting out a 3 hr delay at the airport keen to get to London for the start of the Olympics!! On a good note we found out yesterday we are seeing USA vs china in men's basketball and Aus in women's beach volleyball!! At least we get to cheer on the Aussies in one event!!
Until next time :)

Leonie Great update Ran sounds like you had a fab time in Portugal. Hop weather in London is fine after the nice weather you have had. Think NY is going to be hot and humid but will enjoy anyway. Love Mum and Dad xx
Jessica I live in Germany, where we have also had coverage of Madeleine's kdpaniping. It has been repeatedly stated, and indeed must be true, that the likelihood of her still being in Portugal is minimal. (I saw footage on television of the Portuguese police, who were supposed to be checking all cars leaving the country, huddling in their own patrol car during a cloudburst, and then standing around chatting among themselves for at least an hour afterwards, while all kinds of cars including a white van with blacked-out windows whizzed past them )Short of a global milk-carton campaign or a Coca Cola label ad (you'd probably have to use the caps of the glass ones, which are rather small) it is hard to come up with a coherent suggestion. She could literally be anywhere The wave of support that this abduction has triggered seems to have an element of last-straw , as we ask ourselves, finally, what kind of a society is it that preys on not only its most vulnerable members, but indeed on precisely those who represent our future on this planet? Madeleine, in addition to being a little girl tragically snatched from her appalled and grieving family, is fast becoming a symbol of the horror we feel when the innocence of children is violated, when they are forcibly removed from their loving homes and families either in the midst of normal everyday life, or in the maelstrom of war zones or places of unspeakable poverty and want.It is time to act globally there has been much talk about organisations that would appear to be ideal vehicles for a seek-and-destroy action against the evil individuals who rob others of their children, but they seem not to walk their own talk. Who will stand up and set up a workable global platform incorporating all the ideas we have heard so far, rein in and marshal the forces of the UNICEFs and data bases, and carry out these ideas on the ground in a sustainable, long-term campaign to eradicate this abhorrent crime? I wish the McCanns strength and fortitude, and can only hope and pray that Madeleine is returned to them unharmed.
