Hello bloggers!
Evan writing here for the final chapter of what has been an amazing trip through Europe.
Monday 24th September
We left Munich and bid Farewell to our friends Karen, dillian and Chris.
We set sail for Salzburg with Chris in tow who was also heading that way.
Once arrived we checked into our hostel and explored the banks of the river while also exploring the gardens where the do-re-mi scenes were filmed For the sound of music!
Finished off the night with a viewing of the sound of music.
Tuesday 25th September
Today was the day Rhiannon and I had dreamt of as kids, going to the film locations from the sound of music.
We decided to go with froyline Maria bike tours. Our guide was named Jonas As in the Jonas brothers and he was from Denmark. True story.
We saw many sights from the movie including the main squares (where Maria had lots of confidence in herself), the abbey, the back house and front house of the Von trapp residence (yes that's correct, 2 different houses we're used when filming. Try and spot it when u next watch The film), the gazebo, the bridge the kids n Maria cross also during do-re-mi and many more!
That night again we watched parts of the movie which I should mentioned is screened nightly at 7pm at the hostel we stayed at.
Wednesday 26th September
Today rhi and I ventured up to the castle on the hill in Salzburg. We got a funicular up there. it used to be a place where they stored salt. Also great views from up there of Salzburg and surrounds!
After this I wanted to find the steps where the kids and Maria walk down during the do-re-mi songfest.
We found them after some
Searching. The afternoon Consisted of laundry and another
Viewing of the sound of music.
Thursday 27th sept
Today we said Bon voyage to Austria and hello to Switzerland.
Took us 7 hours and 3 trains but we finally made it to st
Moritz in the afternoon.
I always wanted to go to st moritz purely because it is located in the engadin valley haha and also mum told me to go there.
We walked around the lake this afternoon and had
A nice meal at our nice hostel.
Friday 28th sept
When we checked in yesterday we recieved free passes to Go up any cable car in the st moritz area.
Rhi n I took this as a
Challenge And tried To go up as many as possible.
First on the list was
Corvatsch which was 3303m high. Good views from up there but mightily cold.
Next we went over to a mountain called (mind blank) and this gave us a great view down the whole engadin valley.we had our staple lunch consisting of peanut butter sambos and an apple. Mmm yum.
Our 3rd n final mountain we scaled (via cable car) was the piz nair. We had superb views of corvatsch which we had been up that morning.
Again for dinner we had a meal at the hostel as it was the cheapest option going around!
Saturday 29th sept.
Woke up to see the swans had won!
Today we we out of the engadin and were off to Lucerne. This was a 4 hour train trip. Once in lucerne we made use of our Swiss pass and went on a boat cruise on the lake which was good. Spent the night trying to find places to watch the nrl gf!
Sunday 30th sept
Grand final day!
I headed off to an Internet cafe while rhi had her regular sleep in.
Rhi joined me at halftime. I found myself going for the storm,
Not sure why.
After the storm had defeated the doggies bro 14-4 we ventured off to explore the
City of Lucerne. We Followed a waking path which took us along the river, up an old city fort wall, across to a huge carved
Lion, down through the town centre and finally through a covered bridge
called the chapel bridge.
That afternoon we had a relax and did a puzzle. Exciting stuff!
Monday 1st october
Pinch and a punch!!
Today we said adios to Lucerne and hola to interlaken. Again we made use of our Swiss pass and once
Arrived in interlaken we went on a boat trip across the lake to a town and got a train back.
That night we loaded resumes onto recruitment agency websites! Let the fun begin!
Tuesday 2nd October
Today we checked that the weather was going to be clear and once that was confirmed we set out for Jungfrau 'the top of europe'!!
It took us 2 hours and 3 trains but we finally reached the summit at 1.53pm. We got great views up here, threw some snowballs, went in an ice cave and even saw some bears skiing!! After a hot chocolate to warm the insides we headed back down the mountain (via train of course). After a few
Minor delays we got back to interlaken about 730 and headed
Back to our hostel for dins.
Wed 3rd October
Today we planned on going to lauterbrunnen. Firstly we went up harder kulm which is a view point lookin over interlaken with Jungfrau in the background. Also the two lakes either side of the town. We were going to head to lauterbrunnen but due to us just missing a train we decided to skip it for today and take a walk into town. We saw some hang gliders land and also had a mcflurry!
That arvo we did some washing and posted more cvs to recruitment agencies. We watched the
Movie the departed at night and Rhiannon got a little scared.
Thursday 4th October 2012
Well today we actually made it to lauterbrunnen. We checked out some cool glacial waterfalls which are inside the rock face. We had a look around lauterbrunnen n had our standard lunch here again.
This afternoon we again made use of our swiss rail pass and went on yet another cruise up the second lake next to interlaken. Great times were had by all. At this stage rhi is very sick and has a bad cough so we had an early night in preparation for our travel to Geneva via bern
Tomorrow!!
Friday 6th October
Well this is it. Our last full day of the trip. We left interlaken early in order to spend a few hours in bern on our way to Geneva. Bern is the capital of Switzerland, however I always thought it was Zurich for some reason! We saw most of the town and also saw some bears roaming the riverside. True story.
After we had checked out bern we headed onto Geneva where
We had a look around town in the afternoon. Very cool city.
Tomorrow we head off to London after what has been a top 5 and
A bit months. Trip has been everything and more we expected.
Next chapter begins next week with the search for jobs!!
Untill next time.

Lynne Keane Great blog. Hope Rhiannon is getting better!
Therese Cool stories Ev! Doug loves that you saw some bears. Ran if you are reading this - or you Ev, go to a chemist and they can give you something strong to help you with your cold / cough until you get to a drs. Maji lived in Hammersmithnso she may be able to advise too on the NHS and drs. Love the sound of music stories too. You kids having the best time!
Marisa Great blog post Ev, brings back memories of my European adventure as I lived Lucerne and lauterbrunnen. I also thought Geneva was the capital. I will now remember its Bern by thinking of the bears! Lots of love to you both xx
