We arrived in Banos ,Ecuador yesterday and got settled in at the Samari Resort and Spa. It is located just outside Banos in a beautiful setting and gardens. It had been the location of a Jesuit Monistary in the 1700's. Surrounded on three sides with mountains.
Today we headed to the thermal hot springs in the morning and enjoyed the natural springs. In the afternoon we took a very fun waterfall tour into the canyon which is lush and green. The bus was open sided which skirted along the steep cliffs with a spectacular view. We took a ride across the canyon in a tram basket which was fun and a bit scary as they don't believe in giving much information prior to taking off in South America.
We saw some beautiful waterfalls and again crossed the canyon on a swing bridge.
We had rain this afternoon but it didn't really effect viewing of the canyon. The mountain sides are covered with orchids. The flowers in Ecuador are amazing!!
