Since we last spoke we've been pretty darn busy, we went on the tour we had booked which was a seriously long day. We got picked up from our hostel at 7:30 am where we were bundled into the back of a mini bus and driven to the floating market. The floating markets were really cool, we went on a paddle boat, which took us through the market. Its was pretty hectic with boats ramming into each other and the old women steering them, shouting at each other, but it all added to the experience. We then went on a speed boat ride along the river, where we saw 2 dragons!
After the floating market, we were bundled back into the mini bus and driven for hours, trying to find where we were booked to have lunch. At one point the driver realised he had gone the wrong way, so stopped on the motorway, reversed along the road until a dirt track, where he turned the bus around and proceeded to continue driving the wrong way down the motor way!!
Eventually we made it, in one piece, to where we had lunch. It was a really pretty riverside cafe, which we sat on a floating room eating our lunch. We then went off to see the bridge over the river Kwai, which was a really nice location. We were then packed back into the mini bus to go to the temple of the tigers. When they say its a temple - its not! Its just a canyon, which we waited in line for about 20 mins, to be taken around and have our photos taken with the tigers. It was nice to see the tigers but we were a bit concerned that it seemed a bit cruel.
Yesterday we went and saw some buddhas around Bangkok during the day, which Dave bought 5 birds in a cage to offer the buddha to bring him good luck. Then in the evening we went to Pat Pong - for those of you who haven't heard of this place, its well known for its ping pong shows!!!
We saw some pretty impressive acts with bananas, cigarette's, whistles, coke bottles and the infamous ping pongs. We decided to leave and go back to Khao San road for drinks.
Having done a bit of a bar crawl we ended up in a bar, where they were playing live music, so decided to stay put, a few drinks later and Dave befriended a random Ozzy guy with his chosen Thai friend. We welcomed them to join us while he entertained us with his drunken rants about everything and anything. Whist trying to understand what this guy was going on about, we were distracted by a baby elephant wandering up the street. We ran over leaving our drinks and Dave's cigarettes with the Ozzy guy. On returning we found our drinks gone Dave's chair missing along with his cigarettes. At this point Daves world collapsed. It turned out the Ozzy guy had taken them but wouldn't admit to it, so it was just a downward spiral from then on for Dave, much to mine and Dans amusement. Dave proceeded to drown his sorrows with as much alcohol that he could afford and then what Dan could afford! But at least Dan got to see an elephant! So it looks like Dave pissed off the buddha with those birds because he sure as hell didnt get any of that good luck he was promised.
Were off to Kho Phangan tonight, which is an island off the east coast, which involves taking the night train, so fingers crossed nothing bad will happen to Dave!
