We've had a very hot!!! couple of days, I'm constantly trying to think up ways of getting portable air con!! We left Bangkok (well tried to!) on Tuesday. We had seats booked on a train to take us to LopBuri at 10:45am, it was only supposed to be a 2 hour journey, to get us there in plenty of time, to look around. 10:45 came and went and an announcement was made the train would be 20 mins late. An hour later and yet another announcement was made, to say a further 20 min delay. Having sat at the station for 3 hours, we found a barely sober American guy, who had turned to the drink waiting for the same train. He made a massive speech about the price of gas, but eventually got to the point, that we could ask for a refund and get a taxi between the 3 of us for the same cost!! So off we ran, without looking back just in case the train suddenly arrived! An hour or so into the drive, we were happy with our air conditioned car and just wished we'd done it earlier, when suddenly we stalled, in the outside lane, of a 3 lane road, at a big old junction. The driver nervously laughed before making us all get out and pushed the car across all three lanes, into the junction, before pulling in to a roadside shop - The car had overheated!! as we sat, with what seemed to be Thailand's entire population of dogs around us, we waited for the car to cool down. Eventually we were on the road again and it wasn't long before we were at hour hostel. After some confusion over the fact, yes all 3 of us wanted a bed!! (I love Thailand!) we eventually got a room and more importantly all got a bed!! We then took a short bus ride to some ruins, in which over 2500 monkeys had claimed as their home (the whole reason we had come to LopBuri) Within seconds of me being there I was missing a chunk of hair. So hair was tightly pulled back, when soon after I was missing a chunk of arm and some baby monkeys were trying to remove my foot (Well my anklet but the way things were going...) Dan and Dave emerged unscathed and whilst I morned the chunk of hair and arm, Dave moaned about the fact some monkey had run off with his coke bottle!!! The monkeys were still pretty cool tho!!
Hoping for a less eventful journey the following day, we had a 4 hour train ride, then a 2 hour bus ride, to get to Sukhothai. When the train was 15 mins late, we feared a repeat of the previous day, however, the train soon arrived and the rest of the journey was pretty smooth! Having celebrated the successful journey with a couple of beers, we had an early night. Not that we got much sleep, as it was ridiculously hot and some devil worshiping c*** a f***ing doodle f***ing dooing critter decided 6am was a good time to screech every 2 bloody minutes!! Eventually, we hired some bikes out and cycled around some pretty cool ruins and Buddha's. When we came back for lunch the bird was still at it and I swear to god if anythings going to make me not be veggie any longer, its that damn bird!! We are currently hiding from the sun, under what is attempting to be a fan, before we plan to hit the road again, for some more ruins. We have a 6 hour bus ride ahead of us tomorrow to Chang Mai, which I'm really looking forward to, as its air con all the way!!!
