Hi all
So were finally back on the road again! And the first stop is Cairns, we flew from Brisbane to Cairns last week and coming through the airport we both got picked out and searched and tested for explosives!! So that was amusing!
Cairns is North Queensland and its absolutely amazing and very tropical. Were staying at a place called Gilligans and it's a hostel and hotel resort and it's really nice, it doesn't even feel like were staying in a hostel it's that good.
Yesterday we went white water rafting and i was so scared, i wanted to go to the Barron river which is meant to be an easy going river but when we tried to book everyone was telling us the Barron river was very boring and we should go to the Tully River to experience the proper rapids, so i decided to go for the Tully from a bit of persuasion from Pauric. We spent the whole day rafting and to start off with i was really nervous as i didn't know how severe the rapids were going to be (they were in fact grade 4 and that's quite adventurous) However after toppling out a few times we both really enjoyed it, it was a great day out and we would definitely do it again
Today we did a trip out to the Great Barrier Reef, we stopped off at a place called Green Island, the island itself was gorgeous. We started off on a semi-submarine this was really good as you go along the sea bed and get to see all the sealife and coral without getting wet, this was perfect for me as im not that keen on snorkelling. However some of the windows in the submarie had cracks in so you can imagine we never stayed down there for too long!
Pauric managed to go snorkelling on the reef and he managed to get some really good photos of the sealife under water.
The journey back to the mainland was not so good, the weather decided to turm and it was a really rough crossing, i never realised until today that i suffer from sea sickness but Pauric managed to see the funny side and was taking the mick out me.
We have both really enjoyed Cairns and we have met some good people here but its time to move on. We are picking up a campervan on Wednesday so that should be an experience! Next stop Port Douglas!!!
