When we got to Melbourne we got the tram to St Kilda and stayed at a place called Base Backpackers. St Kilda is right on the beach front and very nice.As we were only staying here for about 6 nights we decided to see as much as we could. Melbourne itself is very nice and has lots of character.
The next day we went into the City and went to Queen Victoria Markets, they were really cheap, here we purchased a few items of warmer clothing for our trip to New Zealand! That night Pauric managed to persuade me to go and watch an AFL (Australian Football League) I wasn't really looking forward to it but it turned out to be a really good night. The atmosphere there was brilliant. The Ozzies are really into their sports! It was two locals teams playing and everyone was in good spirits!
The following day we had booked a tour to go to Ramsey Street where Neighbours is filmed, I know very cheesy but it had to be done. The trip itself wasn't the best! We pulled up at this school and our tour guide just pulled out a sign that said Erinsborough High and took everyone's photograph, for all we knew it could have been any random school but apparently it's where they film the school scenes! Next we headed off to Ramsey Street, it's actually called Pin Oak Court and when we got there the tour guide again pulled out another sign, this time it was the Ramsey Street sign and got everyone to hold it for photos! We actually thought at this stage they were having us on! We were really surprised with how small the street actually was but you could tell it was Ramsey Street. We then got to visit all of the outsides sets, like Lassiters and the car garage. So as you can see it's a trip not to be missed!
The next day we had booked to go on a tour to the Great Ocean Road, we were really looking forward to this trip but on the morning it was a different story as we both had bad heads from the night before! The trip itself was brilliant, we had a tour guide that was helpful and really funny. We got to drive along the Great Ocean Road , see the twelve apostles and also go for a walk in a rain forest. On the way back our tour guide got us to play bus bingo which was very entertaining! I actually won bingo and won a free dinner!
Today is our last day now In Australia and it's sad to be leaving but still looking forward to seeing New Zealand.
Next stop Auckland, New Zealand!
