Our Global Gallivants
We started the day with breakfast in the hotel. Dave's training started at 9, mine at 10. The first hour was taught by Sensei Joe from Australia. A lot of the drills we usually do, but moving while doing them, and as fast as you can. I was definitely sweating by the time the hour was up. Sensei Joe pulled me to the front of the class to demonstrate how you should kiai and execute some techniques. He likes how loud I yell and that I can be intense when I train. The second hour was with Sensei Linda from the UK. More rapid moving, side to side, front to back, on the diagonal. Hour 3 with Sensei Torben from Denmark. We did Geiki Sai Dai Ich kata, and practised some explosiveness of moves, followed by different bunkai applications. I like doing bunkai, so it was fun for me. We went to Jack's bagel restaurant for lunch again, and Jack bought everybody lunch. I went back to do the women's self defence class with Sensei Linda. All the women were happy that we got to remove the tops of our gi's. That was a lot cooler to train. It was a fun class with moves that were initiated from kakie, quite a few were takedowns with different partners. That class was 1 1/2 hours, back to the hotel to shower and 1/2 hour to relax and then we drove to Mississauga for a Chinese banquet with the Calgary group and Shinya from Okinawa and Ciara from Ireland/UK. It was fun and the food was delicious. We had a visit with some participants and then back to our hotel by 11. Tiring day!
