Our Global Gallivants
Today we drove north in the park. There's a couple of other spots we wanted to see. First stop: Artist Paint Pots The information centre did inform us that this area is dying, but since I had seen so many cool photos from there I wanted to stop anyhow. It didn't hold a candle to yesterday's Grand Crystal Prism. There was some road construction along the way, but didn't hold us up too long. Next stop: Mammoth hot springs This was another spot I was looking forward to see. It is located at a higher elevation, so some of the views were panoramic. The formations were quite large, but a lot of the formation was dead. Still beautiful to see, but I had a grander vision because of the photo on the brochure. We also made a stop at one of the first bridges to be built in the park. A boulder on the side of the road was from the original blasting in the 1800's. We made it back to the hotel in time for a swim and a soak in the hot tub, followed by some stretching. We went to the taco bus for some Mexican food for dinner and ice cream afterward. Fun day.
