Left Darwin this morning with the realisation that it was the start of our journey back home to Orange. After a quick grocery stop we headed down the Stuart Highway and turned into Douglas Hot Springs. After lunch and setting up camp we headed out to Butterfly Gorge for a look and a swim. The track in had not seen any maintenance for a while so it was a bit slow going. We did a bit of rock hopping to get in and swam out to the gorge. A bit more rock hopping saw us up into the gorge. It's amazing how everywhere we go there is something different and unique to see and do. This one had some unique rock columns and large pools to swim in; very different to Umbrawarra which is only 30km from this gorge. The water was a bit grime and smelly so we did the slow drive back to the hot springs for a clean up.
The hot springs were a relaxing end to the day. We went in the very hot springs till we were sweating then jumped into the river for a cool change, we did this a few times and felt very relaxed; a great end to the day.
