Before setting of we checked out the museum at Coward Springs. It is in the old engine drivers quarters (on the Old Ghan Railway) which has been restored over the past two decades. On the way to camp (still on the Oodnadatta Track) we stopped in at two mound springs. It was an amazing landscape - being surrounded by salt flats with the mound springs poking out of the ground. Left camp and headed out on the William Creek road. It was very flat with hardly a tree in site and plenty of Gibba plains. Our track passed Lake Cadibarrawirracanna or Lake Cadi for short. From the distance we could make out some water in it, and there has also been some water in the shallow depressions along the track - something you don't normally see. Headed for Coober Pedy today. We continued to have light rain over night and decided that it would be a bit too sticky on the Oodnadatta Track, especially towing the camper trailer. Packed up at Kings Canyon in some light rain. It has been the first rain we have had since leaving home 6weeks ago. Considering it was raining and we have some solid road for awhile, we had a day of driving. Crossed over the border into South Australia (and had lunch on the border) and camped at Marla with Patrick and Marita. We will wait and see what the rain does overnight to decide whether we head south on the sealed road or across the Oodnadatta Track.
