Not such a great start to Sri Lanka. Camera stolen, no cheap accommodation, and very tired. We ended up in a YMCA for £13 for a room and discover in the lonely planet as 'This old YMCA is kind of depressing, but if you've been robbed and need a place to crash - or you're on a very tight budget -this could be it.' Our most expensive nights stay since we came away, with the exception of Australia of course!
Life didn't seem so bad again after a good sleep and some scummy curry and rice! Getting back into the swing of finger eating is fun, especially as the locals watch with praise.
Colombo ended up being a jobs city. Sorting out a new camera to capture Sri Lanka and India on and finally getting round to submitting our India visas! Yippeeee!!! Fingers crossed they'll accept us! Find out when we arrive back in Colombo. Once jobs were sorted it was exploration time, including a glimpse of the infamous president as he landed in town on his luxury helicopter.
A 5am start with our first Sri Lankan train ride up to Anuradhapura, the ancient city.
