Two Birthday Skype sessions in consecutive days. This time Mums 65th!
Sometimes the hunt for accommodation is tiring and still doesn't produce what's needed... This wasn't the case in Galle and 10 minutes after starting the search, we dropped our bags and settled into our beautiful 'apartment' for 2500 rupees £12.50 per night. Big spenders today but totally worth it for a couple of days.
Galle was a nice change in architecture with a Portuguese, Dutch and English influence but the Sri Lankans still kept their free spirits. Cricket on every strip of grass, masses dancing on the fort wall at sunset (I only just retained my dignity), and yet more gorgeous grub. A favourite little haunt was a 2 man ran cafe which did bloody good pineapple upside down cake and the coldest of cokes.
Our 2 night evening tradition was to watch the sun set over the Indian sea on the fort wall and enjoy an 'electrolyte top up' coconut. Sad to leave this peaceful little end to Sri Lanka. Final stop of Sri Lanka...Colombo.
