Friday night almost everyone from our dorm went out together to explore Perth's nightlife. You know it was a good night when you have more than three stamps up arm and your feet are horribly sore from dancing, I know it's probably hard for most of you to believe that I, Elizabeth Clarke, was dancing but it did happen. Some of the group had split up but we all came back together to catch the last train to Fremantle at 2:15, the train officers didn't mane any of us pay for the ride. I might be a little bias but I think I live in the best dorm, we have an even mix of domestic and international students and we have a lot of fun together. The other two dorms on campus are specifically for University of Portland students and St. John's in Minnesota students. They don't really branch out too much because they all came with their friends, unlike myself and the other students in my dorm who came knowing no one so we had to be more outgoing from the beginning.
Early evening on Saturday we went to the Saturday night markets on the beach, it was only a block away from my dorm. Thousands of people come every weekend to eat food from all different countries sold by vendors out of the back of their trucks. Live music was played and flamethrowers performed for all of the people eating dinner on the beach.
Before we go out we usually all gather at the Round House which is a fort overlooking the water. There we have met young people from all over the world, last night we met a group of boys from Ireland and England; I have to admit although I like the Australian Accent I think the Irish brogue will always be my favorite. Usually at the Round House we hear about what is going on and the good places to go on certain nights. On Saturday we stayed in Fremantle because we heard that Flavor Flav, an American rap singer who is known for wearing a large clock around his neck, was at one of the clubs. To be completely honest country music is more of my thing and I had never even heard of him before, but coming here to Australia I made the decision to take every opportunity I am offered so we went to the bar Metro for the night to hear Flavor Flav.
Sunday's are very relxed days here. I woke up early to go to mass at St. Patrick's Basicalia. A group of us then decided to do our grocery shopping for the week. We left the grocery store carrying all of our groceries for the week. We had the brilliant idea to take the free bus back to our dorm, there are two free bus lines in Fremantle the red cat and the blue cat. We didn't look at the bus path and just got on what we thought was the right bus. We confidently walked on the bus and took our seats about fifteen minutes later when the bus pulled in front of the grocery store again when we realized we had taken the wrong one, but not before one of my friends was yelled at for drinking her coke on the bus. You had to be there but it was hilarious, it was kind of like a bad SNL skit.
Huge shout out to the world's greatest basketball coach, Bobby Walton, and the whole Gesu team as the play for the City championship tomorrow and are headed to States for the fourth year in a row!!!!!!! I wish I could be there to cheer you on but know I am rooting for you here in Australia.

Sister Diana Thanks for the great explanation of your adventures. It sounds as if you do have a great dorm. How is it being a RA? Blessings on your journey! Cheers!
Townsend.clarke @Yahoo.com EB, I was concerned you would not like it there. Now I am concerned you like it too much....and will not come home. So pleased with the dorm situation, friends form all over the world, and good times with them. Gesu won the city semi-final yesterday. Katherine played great a literally decked a girl (not on purpose) with a blocked shot and called on for a foul. I thought it was clean and gave one of my few yells "Good block, Katherine" (could not contain myself). Shannon has become Katherine's best supporting teammate and when they are in together both are a force to be re-coned with. COLD, COLD and MORE COLD. Wish your weather were here.....no end in sight. Continue to enjoy, learn and grow
gaye weigand Elizabeth, I am so happy you have made good friends and you all are having such a good time. Dancing? I need to see that when you get home. It is the coldest, snowiest winter in Cinti and is ICING at the minute with 7 inches of snow expected overnight. I am glad you are spending time on the beach. Wish I was there. Thanks for your blog. I love keeping up with your adventures.
Elizabeth Clarke Thanks Gaye!!! Stay warm!
