I cannot believe another week has gone by; everyday brings new adventures and excitement.
Our alarms went off at 5:45 because 10 of us had booked the 7:15 ferry to Rottnest Island. It is an island about 45 minutes North of Fremantle by Ferry (I suggested we swim but no one would swim with me and we would probably still be swimming haha). Once we arrived at the island some of the girls we were with decided to get bus passes to go from beach to beach; I went with a couple of girls and we rented bikes for the day. We rode for miles up and down very steep hills stopping at little alcoves and beaches along the way. It was so beautiful the pictures don't even do justice. The native animal to the island is the quokka and they were everywhere around the island. The island has not had rain in a long time and you could tell on the island that everything was extremely dry, even the swamp is all dried up. There were other not so cute animals, right before we were about to go to the bathroom a man came running out warning us there was a huge dugites snake (let me tell you I am terrified of snakes) so we quickly jumped on our bikes and rode away. We ate our packed lunches on the beach and spent the rest of the day exploring the island.
On Monday I took the train into Perth to explore more of the city.
Thursday nights are my nights on duty as an RA. Of course the night I'm on duty I have to send a girl to the hospital because of an allergic reaction to something she ate (ironically it was to wheat) but the hospital was too full so she came back and we just took care of her in the dorm. She is okay now.
I am excited to experience St. Patrick's Day tomorrow (one of may favourite days of the year!). I think we are going to go to an Irish pub to watch the Irish dancers . . . just like the good old days!!!
XOXO

Townsend Clarke Elizabeth, we are express mailing you Irish dress so when you step dance at the Irish pub you will be in "full uniform". We here, of course, will look forward to the videos with great anticipation. Just like the good old days. I am not too fond of snakes either so I can appreciate your anxiety with your "snake experience" How did the knee hold up on the bike? Must have been very trip around the island. I am very envious but so pleased for you and meeting you meeting and making new friends. I hear you are going sailing as well. Do enjoy that. Australia is world renowned for its sailing, not to mention its tennis. So enjoy. Wonder if you "patient" had Celiac.
Sister Diana March 17th - I love reading about your adventures. I'm so grateful you are having this incredible experience and opportunity to meet people and see places that are only in my dreams. Hope all else is going well. Anxious to have you home and hear firsthand about you experiences. Have a blessed day and may the luck if the Irish be with you.
Elizabeth Clarke Thanks Sister Diana!! St. Patrick's day is definitely not celebrated the same way here as it is back home. Most people did not even know it was St. Patricks Day, I have to admit I missed not being at the Cleveland parade! Miss you!!!
Sis Sounds like a wonderful experience. Keep up the adventures.
