Day 312, 12 May 2013, Plantation Key. Possibly the easiest day of our one year of travels thus far. Did almost nothing. We know, right, alert the media. Almost nothing happens almost never. The highlight of the morning was driving to the supermarket for a roasted chicken to fend off the lunch and dinner hungry monster. Next highlight was an afternoon snooze that literally took all afternoon. Big day indeed. Just to keep this entry from actually causing you to nod off yourselves, here's a pretty picture of one of the delicacies in these parts - key lime pie - had a slice the other day in Key West (snuffled it up too quick to get a picture, so this one is from the internet). Speaking of local delicacies after the somnolence of the day we did head out to a local restaurant with the rudest waitress in the entire chain of islands - but we simply had to try Conch. Now if you pronounce it like 99% of the English speaking world ("conch" as in conscience or conscientious...) then you'd be laughed out of the restaurant in this here Conch Republic. Where it is, religiously, pronounced "Konk". Yep. Konk fritters, Konk chowder, Konk shell and Konk with garlic and butter - which is what we enjoyed for dinner. A bit like eating crocodile in Australia and Kudu in Africa. Done it. Don't need to do it again.
