Day 313, 13 May 2013, Robbie's Marina, Isla Morada / Cabana Breezes Beach Club, Key Colony Beach. Groovy day in the Keys. There were actual clouds in the sky today. Although they didn't amount to actual rain, they provided a change of scenery and made it a tiny bit cooler. We headed to Robbie's in the late morning - a self-made Florida Keys institution - you go, stand on the dock and can feed massive Tarpon fish that live near his dock. They live there for obvious reasons... why go anywhere else when life's an all you can eat fiesta. It was cool - very cool indeed to see huge silvery fish lift themselves a foot out of the water to snarf down the fishy offerings. We moved on down the keys to our favourite lazy spot and forked out the necessary $$$ to be guest members of the beach club. It's anathema to Australians to pay for the use of a beach... but when in the Keys... it's a necessity. This place has a nice pool, a pretty white sand beach, towels and $4 Margaritas so strong they knock your socks off and they stay down for the count. We took the precaution of doing all our packing yesterday so today was just free and easy - experimented with Mexican for lunch and had spicy fish tacos. Great experiment. We were held up by a massive car accident on the way home, and the end of the traffic jam was at the place we planned to grab a pizza to go - so instead we stayed and ate authentic Italian pizza all the way from Jersey (that's pronounced "Joy-zee!) They boast they have the best pizza in the Keys at Boardwalk Pizza and we discovered it wasn't an idle boast - best we've had in the USA and the best since Venice, Italy. So there!
