Day 335, 4 June 2013, Hollywood - Union Station Los Angeles - and 7.5 hours later... San Francisco, California. All for only US$38 between us. Go Megabus! A UK company that advertises fares as low as £1 each has set up here (or at least the brand has) and we sailed through the long bus drive on the upper deck of a double decker bus - spying out olive groves, citrus trees and grape vines by the mile. Not a bad day. Just a long day. Discovered when we got here that from a hotel perspective San Fran is even more expensive than New York - you don't get a lot, it costs a fortune and when you desperately start combing the websites for something better for the same price... you realise the inmates truly are running the asylum in the San Francisco hotel industry. Oh well - a few days riding cable cars up and down the hills will suit us just fine... Only reason we came to the most expensive hotel city in the USA was to fly out of it (Peru - this Saturday. Wow!!!)
