We were picked up at the hotel by the car rental company at 10am.  I was pleaseed to be getting out of the city.  Auckland is a nice city but I have seen most of the things it has to offer and was looking forward to getting out on the road and revisiting some of the places I'd been to 3 years ago.  We collected the car and set off down highway 1 towards Waitomo.Our first stop of the day was a place called Ngaruawahia.  The Maori Queen had died a few days earlier and this is the palce where she was laying in state on the Marae.  We didn't go to the Marae but could see lots of people standing outside waiting to pay their respects.  Our next stop was Hamilton where we had some lunch by the river before getting some food from the supermarket.  We then drove to Waitomo and went straight to the glowworm caves.  We did a tour of the caves and saw lots of glowworms.  Mum thought it was awesome!!!!  We went to our hostel and checked in, I cooked dinner and we all played cards for a while.  I went to the local pub with Andrew for a pint  and a game of pool before heading to bed.
