Sat 2nd - We weren't due to leave Barrytown untill lunchtime so I treated myself to a lay in. A few people went off to do the bone carving which I would have liked to do but was too lazy to get up!! After leaving Barrytown we stopped in Greymouth for 30 mins to pick up some new passengers then headed to Hokitika for our supermarket stop. I checked out the Jade factory (where I got my original Greenstone 3 years ago) looking for a new Greenstone but didn't find any I liked.

We drove on to Franz Josef where we checked into the Rainforest Retreat. I helped Amy cook dinner which was eaten in extra quick time so I could race to the hostel bar in time to watch the All Blacks take on France. A few people from our bus joined me to watch the game but they all had to be up early the next day to go on a Glacier hike so left when the game finished. I had decided not to go on the hike (no money!!) so stayed in the bar with Jugs and some of the Kiwi Experience drivers (Bods and Diesel) to watch the Australia game straight afterwards. This probably wasn't the best idea, I've been involved in drivers nights out before and it often gets messy!! In this case, it got messy!! At one point I was rugby tackled and smacked my face off the solid wood bar. It may have hurt more if I had been slightly less intoxicated but after 10 minutes of complaining, I carried on regardless. I ended up at one point in Franz Josef's only night club with two bus drivers and a barman. We didn't last very long and I went off to bed with a possible concussion!!

Sun 3rd - Had to get up early so I could buy a phonecard and ring home to say Happy Birthday to Mum. I wandered around town till I found a phone then rang home. Afterwards I did the sensible thing and went back to bed!! I spent some time in the afternoon looking around the town to see if anyone was advertising for any staff but there were no jobs to be found, wrong time of year!! I spent some downloading photos onto the internet then went to the hostel bar for dinner with Amy. Didn't stay long in the bar, had a pretty early night.
