So today my uncle and I climbed up Rangitoto which is a dormant volcano which was formed 600 years ago! It was a great walk, walking over lava fields and up to the summit. We also climbed into and through a lava cave which was a pretty cool experience. It was odd to look up and see tree roots coming through the ceiling!
So tomorrow is my last day in New Zealand as I leave for Melbourne in the evening. I am excited, sad and apprehensive. I am excited for the challenges that lie ahead and to see what the next few weeks have in store, I am sad to leave New Zealand as I have had such an awesome time here and I am apprehensive because it's the first real bit of travelling I will be doing alone without my travel buddy Felicity. My time in New Zealand has been incredible. The landscapes that I have seen have left me pretty much speechless, the activities we have done have been amazing and I feel so lucky to have met the people that I have met, it would not have been as good without them. It's been great getting to know family more, I loved seeing karen and her family again, and I feel that I have really got to know uncle Chris and Carol this time round which has been really special. I absolutely love this country as much as I loved it the first time I came here, maybe next time I won't leave!
The next part of my trip will be interesting. It'll be the first time travelling alone and I will be working instead of backpacking for a while. I am excited to live in one place for a while, really get to know the area and to meet more new people! Let's see what Australia has to offer!
