Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
We set the alarm to get up early to start the Wilpena Pound walk to try and beat the heat. The benefit of this was all the animals were also active. So when we drove through the Morlana Scenic Drive, we saw so many sheep, kangaroos, emus and rabbits which weren't there on the drive back through in thew afternoon.
One thing I didn't research much was Wilpena Pound. So when we arrived and found out it was over 20km return to get to the top and got very steep we chose a different walk. We chose the Wangara Lookout walk which was 7.8km return but could be shortened by a shuttle bus. As we weren't staying at the resort we just walked and it must have been about 2km that could have been shortened if we did get on a shuttle bus. It was an easy walk though and just before the climb up the hill, there is an old homestead built in the 1800's.
On the way back we saw quite a few baby emu chicks. I have learnt that it is dad that brings them up not mum, so in the photo it is dad with his babies which would be around 3 months old.
We took a walk around the property this afternoon to look at the animals they had which included a friendly calf.
