I was actually quite glad to camp at Weipa because it was only going to be a day trip. It was a really nice place and a great caravan park where we had a beachfront site. We are really noticing how few travellers are here at the moment. We are about 2 weeks ahead of the start of the tourist influx. We had planned on camping at Merluna Station with a lunch stop at the creek north of Coen. We could have camped here and although it was a nice spot we would rather be at the station tonight then drive again tomorrow. We went to Mossman Gorge this morning which you buy a ticket on a shuttle bus which takes you 2km up the road to the walking track entrances. We only did one walk which was quite short (540m). It was a nice spot and you really notice the moistness in the air. It looked similar to the national parks we have visited but there was noticeably more water. After packing up we played some mini golf before going to the splash pool. After some shopping we went to check out The Australian Armour and Artillery Museum. This place was good for all of us. Zach and Liam had fun playing with the figurines & vehicles and Matt enjoyed looking at all the tanks. It's amazing how different but the same they all are.
