We drove the Somerset beach track which wound through a few beaches. It was once again extremely windy and there was lots of rubbish on the beaches so I wouldn't rate it too highly. Today is Thursday which means it is cheap fuel in Bamaga. Every Thursday they knock 10c of the price of all fuel and I was surprised to see ************e there taking advantage of it. So today we took a boat out and we knew it wasn't the best weather but unfortunatley it was worse than we expected. It was quite windy and the chop was ok heading out to the islands but as we headed back across the bay it was an uncomfortable and long trip back to shore in some very choppy water. Next stop...Loyalty Beach. This involved crossing the Jardine River by ferry which was so small it could only take our 4wd and caravan. It could fit 4 small cars but up here everyone has a big vehicle and trailer. The QLD Parks must be making some good money from it because it cost us $129 to go less than 50m across the river. All they need is to join two of these small ferries together and it would make a bridge across. But I guess they need to make money someho...
