Abel Tasman National Park
We left Nelson on the 17th heading for the Abel Tasman National Park stopping at a few arts and crafts places on route. Today I decided that we would be doing some fishing and so directed Nick to the 'Anatoki Salmon Farm' where you can catch your own Fish. This was hilarious, not being natural fishermen the lady gave us a few pointers and sent us down to the lake with a rod, box, net and Knife. Nick caught a big Salmon almost immediately and with a bit of team work it was out and in our box in seconds. Five mins later the man had gutted and fillited it and we were walking to our van with smiles on our faces and our fish ready to cook. We drove five mins to the river and pan-fried it with a bit of pesto and some garlic bread. Yum. Takaka was a bit of a hippy town, so we had a look around and then walked to the lovely Wainui Falls in the evening.
The Abel Tasman is renound for being one of the most beautiful walking regions in New Zealand so we decided to do a day walk on the 18th. The weather was lovely and the views beautiful, through the forest, fields, hills and amazing secluded beaches. It was a our best day walking so far and finished with a wash in the sea and some noodles with beetroot (luxurious)!
