When we pulled into the pier at Koh Phi Phi we didn't think the water could get any clearer than Koh Tao but there were barracudas on the surface & shoals and shoals of multicolored fish everywhere! There were cute little alleyways again full of shops and eateries, and our resort was straight down to the end with a beautiful view of all the limestone karsts. Ideal location but still away from all the noise at night! We thought we'd check out the nightlife so...

Our ferry from Koh Samui was nice & quick, with a smooth transfer straight onto the most rickety old bus I've seen! Me and Billy were knackered so fell asleep almost straight away at the back, thinking we'd be on there for 6 hours or so... only to be woken up 45 minutes later in the middle of nowhere. This is where things went a little strange! There was a tiny stand where we apparently had to check in & get a sticker each, then we were being ferried onto...

I'd made sure I was prepared for this next catamaran by taking some motion sickness tablets beforehand which worked a treat! The waves were still just as choppy but we were both able to catch some shut eye for a couple of hours before we pulled into the pier. It's weird because when we got off the boat, nothing immediately jumped out at us... the sea was a similar colour to that of Koh Tao, but it wasn't clear at all & the waves were really choppy on the shor...

So from the capital, we had the longass journey down south to the islands, where we had to get an overnight bus followed by a 2 hour catamaran. As we'd already formed a pattern with Asian transport being crap, this was no different, surprise surprise! But it was in actual fact a French family who made it so eventful this time round.. Let's just say they were extremely rude & obnoxious and weren't used to backpacker buses with little leg room!! Anyway we arri...

A midday checkout from our guesthouse and we got a taxi to the local bus station. This was dodgy to say the least.... We stuck out like a sore thumb, and I soon regretted wearing short shorts with all the Thai men gawping at me!! 3 hours later and we arrived in the tiny little village of Chiang Khong, which is the border town for Laos - it literally consists of 1 street with a few shops, banks, a police station, some food stalls/restaurant and guesthouses on.
